ABOUT

Adi Yadoni works in charcoal and celluloid — between the silence of a drawing and the pressure of a lens. Trained in Fine Art at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, and the University of Western Sydney, his practice has never settled in one place. He has exhibited internationally, received the IBM Art Award and the Philip Morris Art Award, and spent the decades since asking the same question through different materials: what gets left out?

In film, that question has led him to the overlooked and the misunderstood. His 2002 documentary Reflections of the Misunderstood Mat Rockers broke ground as the first Singaporean documentary selected for the main programme of the Singapore International Film Festival, travelling from there to festivals across Asia and Europe. Two decades later, the impulse is the same: his documentary series HILANG earned Best Direction and Best Writing at Mediacorp's Pesta Perdana 2023, and his telemovie Belaian screened internationally at the Moscow Asian Film Festival and Mental Health Warrior Film Festival in 2025.

He is based in Singapore.
